JAZZ MUSICIANS - FOUR WALL PLAQUES

Unknown Artist. JAZZ MUSICIANS - FOUR WALL PLAQUES. Four wall plaques in cast plaster, probably 1950s. Each 11 1/2 x 8 inches, unsigned and unmarked. Each depicts a different Jazz performer - singer, pianist, bass player, and clarinetist, rendered in a highly stylized manner, highlighting positive and negative spaces. The plaques are cast so as to depress the images below the flat surface. The indented areas are left white, except for shading and highlighting, and the surface areas are painted a flat black overall, the whole creating a sense of drama and depth. In very good condition except for some surface scratching in the black areas. Uncommon and appealing.
