THE PROLOGUE

King, Ronald (illus). THE PROLOGUE FROM THE CANTERBURY TALES, by Geoggrey Chaucer. Editions Alecto, Guildford, 1967. Large folio, slipcase covered in natural linen, chemise with cloth covered boards, paper Folder containing 14 fascicles, each being a folded full sheet of Barchem Green Double Elephant 246 lb paper, comprising four pages (thus, 56 pages). The first fascicle bears the Title page with a small color screenprint and pages 1 and 2 of the text, the rest each with a full page screenprint abstract "portrait" of a character in the work, titled and initialed by King in pencil, plus two pages of text, thus 15 color screenprints. Copy Number 5 of an edition of 125, plus 15 Artist's Proofs. Signed by King on the Colophon, which is on the reverse of the front of the Folder. The whole in excellent condition.
