A reprint of the original published in 1868. The work is a study of the collection of documents forming a history of calligraphy, miniatures, binding, and the trade in books in Paris prior to the invention of printing. It is part of a larger collection of documents on the History of Paris produced under the direction of Baron Haussmann. Delisle, 1826-1910 was the Director of the Biblioteque Nationale for more than fifty years, and was considered the leading authority on Medieval manuscripts. Issued without Dust Jackets.
