Beraud (after), Jean. THE INTERMISSION. Etching by Apanius after a painting by Beraud (French, 1848-1935), Circa 1880s-1890s. Signed in the plate by both artists. Beraud was a very popular and successful painter of Fin de Siecle Parisian night life. This image of a handsome and elegant performer engaging with elaborately gowned women and gentlemen in white tie and tails, is typical of the milieu in which Beraud moved. 9 1/2 x 14 1/8 inches (image), 11 5/8 x 15 3/4 inches (sheet). In excellent condition.
