The first edition is very scarce, and even more so in a Dust Jacket.
Written in the middle of the Depression, at a time when bankruptcies were commonplace, the book explores the history of the use of bankruptcy during the various financial crises which occurred in the earlier history of the U.S.
Charles Warren, 1868-1954, was a lawyer and legal scholar. He practiced law in Boston, and was active in politics. He was an Assistant Attorney General in the Wilson Adminsitration,and was an expert in National Security and International law. Though liberal generally, he held stron views against immigration. He is remembered now for his 1922 History of the Supreme Court, for which he won a Pulitzer Prize.
