Henri Farge, French, 1884-1970. Painter and printmaker. Known for his ability to describe picturesque scenes typical of the period, his subjects were Deauville, Paris, Coney Island, etc. In his book "Etchings of Today," 1929, Holme characterizes Forge as an "etcher of crowds," and describes his print "Cafe Lavena," a study of the Piazza St. Mark in Venice, as "a study in realism, the throng at the tables being depicted with dramatic force."
