Van Doesburg (Netherlands, 1883-1931) was a Durch artist and critic who is best known as the founder of the art movement "De Stijl." Nelly Van Doesburg (1899-1975) was Theo's wife and collaborator. After his death she remained an important figure in the art world. Her close association with Peggy Guggenheim influenced Guggenheim's collecting and the exhibitions she mounted in her gallery.
