Suite of six lithographs, this being one of 15 sets containing two complete suites, one in color and one in black and white (12 lithographs), of which this is one of 10 sets marked "Artist's Proof" reserved for the artist (there were 5 sets marked "Hors Commerce" reserved for the printers and collaborators). The total edition comprised a Deluxe Suite of 30 copies each with two suites, as above, numbered I/XXX to XXX/XXX, and a Regular Suite of 100 copies, with six lithographs in black and white, numbered 1/100 to 100/00. Each print is inscribed "A/P" and signed in pencil. Each print of the suite in colors is contained in a separate folder with the title printed on the outside; the black and white prints are housed in a single folder. The Justification Page is inscribed "Artist's Proof, and signed in pencil by Hirsch. The lithographs were printed by Burr Miller, and each print is on a sheet of BFK Rives paper 22 x 17 inches. The prints in the suite are: 1. COUPLE AND ONE, Cole 61. 13 1/2 x 12 1/2 inches. 2. WAKENING, Cole 62, 7 1/4 x 16 1/4 inches. 3. NEREID AND POSEIDON, Cole 63, 11 x 14 1/2 inches. 4.
