Dohanos, Stevan (American 1907-1994). DEPARTURE Color Woodcut, c.1940. Edition of 40, signed and titled in pencil. 9 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches. In excellent condition. Dohanos is best known for the more than 100 cover illustrations he did for The Saturday Evening Post, but he was also a versatile printmaker. A few of his prints were published by Associated American Artists, but others, such as the elegant wood engraving "Houses" and the color woodcut "Departure" were done in smaller editions, as they are not seen frequently.
