Abbe, William (American, 1916-1983). EDGARTOWN and MENEMSHA. Linocuts, not dated, edition sizes not stated. Signed "ABBE" in the blocks. Each 6 7/8 x 19 7/8 inches (image), 9 3/8 x 19 7/8 inches (sheet). Abbe studied at Yale and at the Art Student's League. During World War II he was an illustrator in the US Army. After the war he taught at St. Paul's School in Concord NH until 1981. During the summers, and after retiring, he lived on Oak Bluffs, on Martha's Vineyard.
