Katz, Alex. HOMAGE TO FRANK O'HARA: WILLIAM DUNAS. Maraval 42. Lithograph in nine colors, 1972. Edition of 90, plus a few Artist's and Printer's proofs (there was also another edition of 50, using this image, with text below, reading "I am the least difficult of men. All I want is boundless love. Frank O'Hara"). Signed, lower center, and also inscribed "for Chris" to the immediate left of the signature. On Arches paper. Published and printed by Bank Street Atelier, New York. 33 1/4 x 25 1/2 inches; 8440 x 6470 mm. In excellent condition and handsomely framed. Alex Katz, quoted in Maraval, said about this print: 1. "This was the most complicated and most successful print I did with Bank Street." 2. "They work a lot with zinc plates and I couldn't get a great deal of tone differences. I also only got about 40% of what I thought would print from the plate. With most good lithographers you get about 90 percent, 99 percent, but they were able to print the inks very evenly and for my type of work, it worked out fine. 3. "I decided not to do an image of Frank O'Hara bacause for the most part I try to work with the living and I didn't feel like resurrecting him."
