Titled in pencil, lower left, and signed in pencil, lower right, and with the number "85" at the lower right edge, likely an original price. 11 x 14 inches. On paper watermarked "Vidalon les Annonay." Tape residue on three sides, verso, bleeding through to the extreme edges, recto. This is a study for the etching with the same title from the "Desert Set." Sensitive, delicate, and atmospheric.

The Desert Set comprises 35 etchings and was completed in 1921. Burr lived in Denver, but escaped the winters by traveling in Arizona, New Mexico, and California (Palm Springs, the Coachella Valley, and the Mojave Desert). On these trips he would sketch and paint; later, back in Denver he would use some of these as sources for etchings, which were his favorite medium. He produced each of the 35 prints in an edition of 40.
