Inscribed in pencil on the margin of the photograph, "Picasso, 1954" at lower left, and annotated with a copyright symbol and signed in pencil, lower right. The photographer's copyright stamp is on the verso of the mount. This print of one of Newman's best known portraits was prepared for an exhibition of his work at the Boston Atheneum in 1980, and was acquired by the previous owner at that time. In excellent condition (a mark on Picasso's chin is within the negative, and not on the surface of the image).
