Blatherwick, Lily (English, 1854-1934). POPPY AND SESAME. Lithograph, not dated, but circa 1920s. Edition size not known. Signed on the recto in pencil 13 3/4 x 10 3/4 inches (sheet). An inventory number at the upper right corner, some soft creases in the margin, upper right, else in very good condition. One of a group of flower studies done in the 1920s, which are very impressionistic and atmospheric, and show a mastery of the lithographic medium.Blatherwick was a painter and printmaker. She was born in London, but lived in Scotland, where was a founding member of the RSW (Royal Society of Watercolorists) She exhibited at the Royal Academy and elsewhere from and after 1877. Her prints are in many museum collections, including the British Museum and the Harvard Art Museums.
