Platt was a painter and printmaker and also worked in stained glass.
Platt had a long career as a teacher in various art schools. He wrote a book about woodcut tchniques, did paintings to help the war effort during World War II, and served for many years as the President of a society o printmakers. There was a major retrospective of his work in 1947, Fifty Years of the Color Print. The Tate Gallery has a copy of Port of St. Tropez, and the Metropolitan Museum in New York also has examples of his prints in its collection.
