Titled, numbered, and signed in pencil, and with the hand-in-heart chop. A price and an inventory number also in pencil in the margin, lower right, likely in another hand. Number 19 of a projected edition of 100 (Chamberlain locates 35 as the highest numbered example in this state). An early print, before the recutting of the blocks, with the dark blue area in the upper right corner, with the red still on the roof of the building at farthest right, with the red ristras on the building in the foreground, and with the title in script (it is written in block letters in the later editions). 9 3/8 x 11 1/4 inches, 239 x 286 mm. (block), 11 1/8 x 12 1/2 inches (sheet), matted to 16 x 20 inches. In addition to variations within Edition 1 resulting from the recutting of the blocks, there were also subsequent editions with significant variations and numbering issued in the 1920s, 1930s, and in 1956.
