In excellent conditionIn the foreground is a sanitation worker's cart, unattended in the middle of the street. The large Market building is in the mid-ground, with a view of activities at the open sheds on its outer perimeter; Brooklyn Bridge is seen in the background. The Market, which began on Catherine Street in lower Manhattan, was a popular and busy neighborhood presence. It was demolished in 1903 and replaced by a park.Mielatz, taught etching at the National Academy of Design, and is noted for his views of New York City.
