State iii of iv, with most traces of the sky removed from the composition.Signed in the plate, lower right, and with the address of the publisher, Delatre, lower left. The locale of the etching is France, and the building is more likely a farmhouse than a multi-unit residence. This is one of the plates included in the series known as The French Set. There are two collection stamps, verso, Lugt 516, Charles Deering, and Lugt 326, the Art Institute of Chicago (stamped "duplicate" and deaccessioned). 6 1/8 x 8 7/8 inches (plate), 9 1/2 x 14 3/4 inches (sheet).Some overall toning to the sheet, else in very good condition.
