The scene shows the famous glass artist Seguso, seated, working a piece of glass on the end of a spinning pipe. A furnace, tended bya worker is in front of him, and a group of workers, occupied with other tasks is behind. The Seguso family has been a force in the manufacture of glass on Murano Island for 23 generations, going back to 1397.
