Schaffenacker, Helmut Friederich. VASE. Circa 1960s. Marked V82/2. 15 inches tall, off-white glaze with abstract designs impressed on both sides. Classic mid-century modernist design. Helmut Schaeffenacker was one of the great German studio potters for decades. He is still best known for his plaques, but the vases and other sculptural works are finally getting more of the attention they deserve. Plaques are usually well-marked, but vases often are not.
