Roth, Ernest. SHIPPING VENICE. Etching, 1924, re-etched 1941. (not in A.E.). Edition of about 50. Signed, titled & dated in pencil in the lower margin, and also in the plate, lower left. Printed on thick, cream laid paper. Although originally done in 1924, it apparently remained unfinished and unpublished until 1941, when Roth went back to it and re-etched it. This is one of the artist's largest etchings. There is no record of it at auction, and we have found no others available for sale at the time of this writing. Provenance, Covington Fine Arts, Associated American Artists, with its Certificate of AUthenticity. In excellent condition.
