Provenance, estate of John Anderson, via auction.Anderson was Cadmus's life partner, and inherited his estate. In excellent condition.

The drawing is a preparatory study for "WINTER," an egg yolk tempera painting done in 1977. The painting is number 44 in Eliasoph, "Paul Cadmus Yesterday and Today" the catalogue of an exhibition of works by Cadmus at the University of Miami in 1981. The painting is illustrated on Page 62, and a more finished version of our drawing titled "Final Study for Winter" Number 91 in the Miami catalogue, and is illustrated on page 109.
