With the bookplate of John J. Carty, and with a notation on the rear free endpaper of his receipt of the book on 3/30/25. John J. Carty, 1861-1932 was one of the pioneers in the development of the telephone. As Chief Engineer for AT&T, he was responsible for developing the technolgy which resulted in the first trans-coninental voice telephone connection, as well as the first voice trans-atlantic connection. A Near Fine copy, with some darkening to small areas of the front and rear endpapers from offsetting of inserted material, the Dust Jacket Very Good, with two small liquid stains, one on its front panel and spine, the other on its spine, and with the DJ spine somewhat darkened from exposure to light. OCLC locates numerous copies of the 1938 reprint, but only 6 copies of the 1925 edition, and there is only one copy of each edition currently being offered on the online sites, neither in DJ, thus a scarce book.
