This is apparently one of the 121 posthumous impressions printed by Goulding betwwen October 1903 and May 1904 Lithotint with scraping, 1896.Signed with a printed butterfly. This is the third, final state. The story of the printing of this work is very interesting, involving some serious difficultiesfor the artist and the printer. The first state had what appeared to be unintended diagonal lines across the surface resulting from the tint wash being improperly applied. This was improved in the second state, and eliminated in the third state, mostly through the use of scraping. 10 5/8 X 7 1/2 inches (image), 15 5/8 X 10 inches (sheet) Two stained areas on the verso, barely noticeable from the recto, one in the lower margin, one in the upper margin, but touching the verson of the image for about 1/2 inch, else In very good condition..
