Printed on paper watermarked "JWhatman" The plates are numbered in pencil, "17," "18" and "20," implying that they are part of a larger work. Edition size not known. 14 3/4 x 11 5/8 inches (plates), 18 1/2 x 15 1/2 (sheets). In excellent condition. Simpson studied at the National Academy of Design School and the Art Students League. He shared a New York Studio with Asa Cheffetz, who did an excellent etched portrait of him. He traveled to Europe, returned to the US, and over his long life he exhibited regularly and widely across the US and in Europe.
