Joseph Bedier 1864-1938 was a French writer who specialized in the history of Merdieval France. His versions of Tristan and Iseult (1900) and other medieval legends and tales revived interest in these works in Europe, England and the U.S.Hilaire Belloc, 1870-1953 was born in France, but had his career as a writer in England. His transaltion of Bedier's Tristan helped to popu,arize the work in the English-speaking world.Mac Harshberger, 1900-1975 was a very successful American artist and illustrator in the Art Deco style, as exemplified in his illustrations for Tristan and Iseult.
