Bell, Cecil (American, 1906-1970). TWO DRAWINGS - MAN ON SUBWAY and MAN WITH VENETIAN BLINDS SIGN . Watercolor and pencil on paper, not dated, but mid-20th Century. With Bell's embossed blindstamp in the paper. Both signed in pencil, on with the initials "C.B." and the other "C. Bell." 8 x 5 1/2 inches on sketchbook paper with perforated ring-binder holes at left. Framed together in fine wooden frames with deeply beveled mats. In excellent condition. Framed to 16 1/2 x 21 1/4 inches.
Cecil Bell studied at the Art Students League in NYC with Sloan, Locke, Barnet and Wickey. He also worked as a commerical artist for Fox Films and others. His paintings, drawings, and prints, focus, like these, on incidents of ordinary life in the City.
