Tubby, Isaiah Thomas American, 1875-1958) TWO LANDSCAPES. Pastels on paper, mounted to board. Each signed, one at lower left, one at lower center. Each 3 3/4 x 6 1/2 inches, framed to 9 3/4 x 11 3/4 inches.
Tubby was born in Brooklyn NY. His father was a prominent businessman in the leather trade in New York City. He studied at the Polytechnical Institute of Brooklyn, the Columbia College of Architecture in NEw York, and L'Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. From 1900 to 1917 he worked with his father's firm in New York.He served as a First Lieutenant in WWI. Later he moved to Portland, Maine where he had his own Architectural firm and artistic prectice. These images are not identified, but appear possibly to be of the Western United States rather than of New England.
