Kuniyoshi, Yasuo. TWO PEARS AND STRAWBERRIES. Davis L-73. Lithograph, 1937. Edition of probably 100 printed on wove paper. Published by American Artist's Group, and with its stamp, verso. Davis relies on information in an archive at the Whitney Museum for the figure of 100 as the edition size, but AAG editions tended to be larger, and were not signed as part of the published edition. That said, many AAG prints were, in fact, signed by the artists. This example is signed in pencil, lower right, and inscribed "To Myra - Yas," lower left. 8 3/4 x 11 3/4 inches, 222 x 298 mm. Provenance: Estate of the recipient; Brock & Co. In very good condition, but with some adhesive residue at the top corners. Kuniyoshi created a number of his best prints in the form of Still Life compositions using simple arrangements of fruits.
