Shahn, Ben. VANDENBERG, DEWEY AND TAFT. Prescott 5. Screenprint in colors, 1941. 15 x 22 inches; 381 x 559 mm. (image); 19 1/8 x 25 1/4 inches; 486 x 642 (sheet). Signed in ink, lower right. A few small, unobtrusive creases, and a short, well repaired marginal tear. Prescott states that the edition is "unspecified," and that he knew of only four examples. This is one of Shahn's earliest prints, following the painting style he used in the same period. It is one of five screenprints he executed during the screeprint vogue of the 1940s, and one of many satirical political subjects he executed during his career. Rare.
